For any orphans, seeing other children enjoying Hari Raya celebration with their loved ones can be painful at times. Having lost their parents, mother or father, they may not have the opportunity of having the love and care of a parent/parents any longer.

While most of us are fortunate enough to be able to spend Ramadan with our families, there are some who have never had the opportunity to do so.

It is with that thought, Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) organized its annual Baju Raya Shopping and Iftar Program for 55 orphans in Rumah Jalinan Kasih Anak Yatim Miskin, Cheras, Selangor.

Founded in 2007 and located in Taman Megah, Cheras, Rumah Jalinan Kasih Anak Yatim Miskin, currently home about 55 orphans, aged between 2 to 17 years old. This home derived its source of income solely through donations from corporate companies, public donations as well as income from few of its residents in the surrounding area to sustain their monthly expenses.

Realising their plight, PAAB agreed to give a little surprise for the children. Their wish to wear new baju Raya for Aidilfitri this year finally came true after about seven volunteers from PAAB brought the respective guardians of Rumah Jalinan Kasih Anak Yatim Miskin to First Lady boutique in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur.

Despite the strict standard operating procedures (SOP) implemented by Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN) to stem the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the country, it was joyful to see the smiles on their faces selecting what clothes to buy for Hari Raya. The guardians were pushing their baskets with eagerness, as they were seen getting their baju Melayu and baju kurung in green, their theme colour for this year.

The orphans may not be able to feel the love of a father or mother during Hari Raya, so we took the responsibility to keep them happy. This is the least we could do to make their Hari Raya experience a merry one.

Other than shopping for orphans, PAAB also sponsored breaking fast for Rumah Jalinan Kasih Anak Yatim Miskin as well as duit raya contribution to each children as part of Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) Program to contribute and help the community.

PAAB contributed a total of RM10,000 to the children and Rumah Jalinan Kasih Anak Yatim Miskin for their Ramadan and Raya preparations.
