HIRARC TRAINING, STRENGTHENING SAFETY CULTURE IN PAAB

Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) continues its commitment to building a proactive safety culture, ensuring everyone stays safe, and strengthening our work environment.

To support this, the Training & Development Unit of Human Resources, in collaboration with the HSSE Department and MS Smart Management Sdn. Bhd. (MASMA), organised a Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment & Risk Control (HIRARC) Training to enhance workplace safety and risk management.

The training held on 5-6 February 2025, with 16 staff members from both PAAB HQ and State Offices take part.

For HQ staff, the focus was on boosting risk assessment skills and aligning with safety regulations. Meanwhile, State Office teams gained practical knowledge of HIRARC principles to tackle hazards and improve on-site safety.

A huge thank you to all participants and partners for making this training a success!

THE HEALTH HUSTLE, TINGKAT GAYA HIDUP SIHAT DI PAAB

Pada Januari baru-baru ini, Kelab Sukan PAAB atau Recreational Club (RC) menganjurkan The Health Hustle yang merupakan inisiatif untuk menggalakkan gaya hidup sihat dalam kalangan warga kerjanya.

Program yang mendapat kerjasama Human Resources & Administration Division dan Hospital Beacon ini mendapat sambutan yang menggalakkan daripada warga kerja PAAB.

Antara yang turut serta termasuklah Ketua Pegawai Kewangan, Zaleha Abdul Hamid.

Mereka berpeluang menjalani pemeriksaan kesihatan secara percuma termasuk analisis komposisi badan (kadar lemak, otot dan air dalam badan), tekanan darah serta saringan kencing manis dan nasihat untuk mendapatkan berat badan yang ideal (BMI).

Dengan usaha ini, RC berharap warga kerja PAAB lebih bersemangat untuk mengamalkan gaya hidup yang lebih sihat serta berjaya mengurangkan berat badan untuk lebih bertenaga dan cergas.

A Meaningful Courtesy Visit to TYT Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Melaka

Our CEO, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar, had the privilege of paying a courtesy visit to Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Melaka, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam at The Istana Melaka, Bukit Baru, Melaka.

Accompanied by PAAB’s Head of Commercial Division, Mohamad Mohamad Nor, the visit provided an opportunity to further discuss PAAB's role as a key facilitator in water infrastructure development, not only in Melaka but across all states involved in the National Water Services Industry Restructuring Plan.

During the visit, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Mohd Ali generously shared his insights and views on enhancing the water infrastructure in Melaka, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the highest quality water supply for the people of Melaka.

PROJEK LANGAT 2 TERIMA PENGHARGAAN

Projek Loji Rawatan Air Langat 2 (Langat 2) yang dibangunkan oleh Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) terima anugerah penghargaan oleh Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ).

Penghargaan tersebut mengiktiraf sumbangan PAAB yang membina Langat 2 sehingga berjaya meningkatkan jumlah penyaluran air terawat ke kawasan di sekitar Ampang yang merupakan sebahagian daripada jajaran Koridor Utara dalam projek itu.

Selain itu, MPAJ turut menghargai pemaju-pemaju lain yang memainkan peranan penting dalam melaksanakan projek-projek pembangunan dalam kawasan pentadbirannya.

Anugerah disampaikan Exco Kesihatan Awam dan Alam Sekitar Selangor, YB Puan Jamaliah binti Jamaluddin kepada Pengarah Projek Langat 2, Ir. Johari Sinal @ Zainal pada Malam Apresiasi Pembangunan Ampang Jaya di MPAJ.

SANTUNI MADANI PAAB DI KAMPUNG HAJI BAJURI, MANFAAT 1,500 PENDUDUK

Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) menyampaikan sumbangan Kembali Ke Sekolah kepada 120 murid di Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Gambut dan 80 murid dari Sekolah Agama Gambut di Kampung Parit Bajuri, Batu Pahat, Johor

Kesemua 200 pelajar dari kawasan itu dibekalkan Kit Kembali ke Sekolah yang berupa beg sekolah, botol minuman, set bekas makanan dan alat tulis setiap seorang.

Selain itu, SK Gambut dan Sekolah Agama Gambut masing-masing turut menerima sumbangan peranti TV pintar bagi kegunaan murid di kedua-dua sekolah berkenaan.

Menurut Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif PAAB, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar ia merupakan sebahagian daripada Program CSR Satu Pemimpin Satu Kampung atau dikenali sebagai Santuni MADANI PAAB.

Pemilihan kampung tersebut adalah sinonim dengan Ir. Zulkiflee yang merupakan anak jati kelahiran Kampung Haji Bajuri yang dijangka memberi manfaat kepada 1,500 penduduk kampung tersebut.

PAAB menggariskan beberapa inisiatif yang mengetengahkan komitmen dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan dan taraf hidup masyarakat setempat di dalam
aspek pendidikan, kemiskinan, kesihatan, infrastruktur dan kelestarian alam di kawasan berkenaan.

Enhancing the Variation Construction Practices

In a significant step towards optimizing the Variation Order process, PAAB recently hosted an exclusive internal workshop session led by the highly esteemed Sr. Hashimah Harun.

Sr. Hashimah, with her extensive experience across various agencies, shared valuable insights on best practices for managing Variation Works, helping to shape PAAB’s efforts to refine its processes and align with industry standards.

Chief Executive Officer, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar and Chief Operating Officer, Ir. Abdul Samad Sulaiman, participated in the session alongside teams from the Commercial Division, Technical and Engineering Division, Project Delivery Division, Special Project Division, and the Legal Department.

Held at the Intercontinental Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the session was initiated by the Contract Department.

Drawing on successful practices from other agencies and ministries, the session aimed to address key issues in Variation Works and drive improvements in PAAB's internal processes.

The training session marked a pivotal moment in PAAB's commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in the construction sector.

Engaging with Our Stakeholders: A Recap of Tea Talks

The Treasury and Corporate Finance Department hosted the Tea Talks: Engagement with Stakeholders event, welcoming over 100 key industry professionals, including Joint Lead Arrangers/Joint Lead Managers, External Fund Managers, and bankers.

The event provided a platform to unite all key stakeholders for PAAB. It was an opportunity to extend our heartfelt appreciation for their unwavering support, encouraging meaningful networking, and productive discussions focused on mutual growth.

During the presentation, our CFO, Zaleha Abdul Hamid, highlighted updates on PAAB’s financial performance, including the impact of AIR 2040, developments in data centres and water assets, and our future plans for water infrastructure projects and Sukuk fund raising.

She also outlined PAAB’s upcoming plans for debt capital market funding through our Sukuk Program, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable financing.

Also present at this event were the CEO of PAAB, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar, COO, Ir. Abdul Samad Sulaiman, and the senior management team, underscored the importance of building and strengthening relationships with our partners.

On the 19th of December 2024, PAAB’s Board of Directors visited the Langat 2 Phase 1, Package 3 Project, a testament to our commitment to engineering excellence and sustainability in Malaysia's water infrastructure.

Accompanying the Board of Directors were PAAB’s top and senior management, along with the project consultant and the work package contractor.

One of the standout features of this project is the Tubular Pipe Conveyor System, which plays a critical role in transporting residual waste from the Langat 2 Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant to the designated landfill. This is no ordinary conveyor system—it is the longest residual tubular conveyor in Malaysia, spanning nearly 2 kilometers!

This innovative system aligns with PAAB’s ESG initiatives by eliminating the need for conventional lorry transportation, which would require multiple trips to the landfill. This significantly reduces carbon emissions and minimizes the impact on local communities.

Given the plant's impressive full capacity of 1,130 million liters per day (MLD), it’s estimated to generate nearly 400 tonnes of residual waste daily. The tubular conveyor system ensures this byproduct is handled efficiently and sustainably, embodying our vision of integrating cutting-edge technology with environmental stewardship.

The Langat 2 Phase 1 Project exemplifies PAAB's ongoing efforts to build infrastructure that not only meets Malaysia’s water needs but also upholds our responsibility to the environment.

PAAB visited the Langat Centralized Sewage Treatment Plant (LCSTP), the most advanced STP with a design capacity of 920,000 Population Equivalent (PE) or 207 MLD. 

PAAB's delegation, led by Ir. Zainal Nagin, Head of Asset and Land Management Division, was welcomed by Gs. Mohd. Zubaidi Daud, Head of Asset Management at IWK, on 4 December 2024.

The visit focused on asset management practices, digitalization, and renewable energy initiatives, including:

- ISO 55001 Asset Management certification
- Integration of asset management systems
- Solar power, biogas energy, and efficiency technologies

This partnership provided valuable insights to both parties, enhancing their capabilities in asset management, digitalization, and technological advancements to address future challenges in the water industry.
 
Raw water is abstracted from the river, treated at a water treatment plant (WTP), and distributed to consumers. After use, the wastewater is collected and conveyed through sewer lines to a sewage treatment plant (STP). The treated wastewater is then discharged back into the river, returning to the water source. This process is part of the water cycle.
 
Water Interconnectivity is a key factor in ensuring long-term water sustainability. Water and sewerage players must collaborate to achieve this goal, as both parties belong to the same industry. Recognizing this shared agenda, Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) and Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd identified mutual interests, particularly in managing water and wastewater assets to support UNDP’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 6 to ensure access to water and sanitation for all. Noting IWK’s advancements in asset management, PAAB, as the custodian of water assets, aimed to share perspectives and explore adaptations from IWK in the asset management implementation, digitalization in the operation and maintenance of assets and implementation of renewable energy initiatives.

PAAB’s Courtesy Visit to Terengganu: Strengthening Collaboration for Water Infrastructure Development

Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB), led by the Chief Executive Officer, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar, had a meaningful courtesy visit to the State of Terengganu, starting with a fruitful discussion with the Unit Perancang Ekonomi Negeri Terengganu (UPEN), chaired by YBhg. Dato' Tun Ahmad Faisal bin Tun Abdul Razak, Pengarah Unit Perancang Ekonomi Negeri Terengganu, on 18th December 2024.

The wonderful session lasted more than two hours, served as an excellent platform for intellectual discourse, attended by relevant key state agencies. PAAB was honored to introduce its core functions, highlighting its state-of-the-art capabilities in water infrastructure funding and development.

The visit continued with a warm engagement with YB Hanafiah bin Mat, Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Infrastruktur, Utiliti dan Pembangunan Luar Bandar Negeri Terengganu.

As a wholly government-owned entity under Ministry of Finance Malaysia Incorporated (MoF Inc.), PAAB is steadfast in its mandate to provide competitive funding and to construct, refurbish, enhance, upgrade, and repair water infrastructure, as well as all related assets, in support of Malaysia's vision for transforming its water industry.

Strengthening Ties: PAAB x Air Selangor

On 29th November 2024, PAAB and Air Selangor gathered for an unforgettable retreat, culminating in a spirited friendly bowling session. This session marked the beginning of strengthening alliance, setting the stage for an exciting future of collaboration, shared success, and sustainable growth between PAAB and Air Selangor.

This collaboration, which was written down since 2014 when Selangor entered the Water Services Industry Restructuring Plan, was highlighted by the completion of the Langat 2 Phase 1 Scheme on 10th October 2024 that significantly boosted the daily treated water supply to 1130 MLD into the Northern and Western Corridors of Selangor. This improvement benefits areas including Puchong, Setiawangsa, Ulu Kelang, Ampang, as well as Hulu Langat.

Together, we are dedicated to achieving meaningful milestones and delivering sustainable solutions for the communities we serve.

Jabatan Undang-Undang dengan kerjasama Jabatan Pengurusan Hasil, telahpun membuat kunjungan hormat ke Syarikat Air Melaka Berhad (SAMB) pada 6hb Disember 2024 yang lalu, untuk membincangkan penambahbaikan Perjanjian Migrasi. Kunjungan tersebut turut disertai oleh Ketua Pegawai Kewangan PAAB dan Ketua Bahagian Perkhidmatan Korporat, bersama dengan wakil dari Pejabat Pengurusan Negeri PAAB.
 
Perjanjian Migrasi adalah suatu dokumen perjanjian penting antara PAAB dan Operator Air yang ditandatangani semasa program pengstrukturan semula aset air. Perjanjian Migrasi telah ditandatangani oleh pihak Kerajaan Persekutuan, Kerajaan Negeri, PAAB dan pihak SAMB pada tahun 2008. Setelah, hampir dua dekat, sampai masanya untuk membuat semakan semula ke atas terma-terma dan syarat di dalam perjanjian terbabit. Penambahbaikan perlu dibuat untuk memelihara kepentingan kedua-dua belah pihak dengan adanya senario-senario semasa.
 
Secara keseluruhannya, kunjungan PAAB ke SAMB berjaya dilaksanakan, dan mendapat sambutan yang sangat menggalakkan daripada pihak SAMB. Seterusnya, perbincangan dengan negeri-negeri lain juga akan dilaksanakan dimasa akan datang.

Georgetown, 17 Disember - Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) syarikat milik penuh Menteri Kewangan Diperbadankan mengadakan kunjungan hormat ke atas Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang, YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow di Kompleks KOMTAR, Pulau Pinang pagi tadi.

Kunjungan hormat tersebut disertai oleh Pengerusi PAAB, Dato' Seri Ir. Jaseni Maidinsa, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar dan Ketua Pegawai Kewangan, Zaleha Abdul Hamid.

Dalam pertemuan yang berlangsung di Pejabat Ketua Menteri, PAAB berpeluang memperkenalkan dengan lebih terperinci mengenai peranan dan tanggungjawabnya sebagai syarikat yang dilantik oleh Kerajaan Persekutuan bagi menyediakan dana mudah cara dalam melaksanakan projek-projek pembangunan infrastruktur air, bukan sahaja di Pulau Pinang, malah di semua negeri yang telah menandatangani Pelan Penstrukturan Semula Industri Bekalan Air dengan PAAB.

Sehubungan itu, PAAB komited bekerjasama dengan kerajaan negeri untuk membina dua loji rawatan air baharu di daerah Seberang Perai bagi meningkatkan margin simpanan air terawat di kawasan berkenaan pada masa depan.

Projek tersebut membabitkan pembinaan Loji Rawatan Air (LRA) Sungai Perai di daerah Seberang Perai Tengah dengan kapasiti 136 juta liter air sehari (MLD).

Manakala sebuah lagi projek melibatkan pembinaan LRA Sungai Muda di daerah Seberang Perai Utara dengan kapasiti 114 MLD.

Apabila siap kelak, 15 peratus margin simpanan air terawat dapat dikekalkan di Negeri Pulau Pinang serta berupaya mengatasi permintaan tinggi pengguna di kawasan Seberang Perai Tengah dan Seberang Perai Utara untuk menyokong keperluan pembangunan masa depan.

PAAB ditubuhkan pada tahun 2006 melalui Akta Industri Perkhidmatan Air 2006 dan dikawal selia oleh Kementerian Peralihan Tenaga dan Transformasi Air (PETRA) serta Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) bagi membantu Kerajaan Persekutuan dalam merealisasikan Pelan Penstrukturan Semula Industri Perkhidmatan Air Negara, sebagai syarikat yang bertanggungjawab membangunkan aset air di Semenanjung Malaysia dengan kadar pembiayaan yang kompetetif.

Untuk rekod, PBAPP telah menandatangani Pelan Penstrukturan Semula Industri Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang pada tahun 2011 dan projek infrastruktur air ini merupakan penglibatan PAAB yang pertama di Negeri Pulau Pinang.

PAAB PILIH USM SEBAGAI KAMPUS RINTIS TERAPKAN AMALAN KELESTARIAN

Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) meneruskan inisiatif program tanggungjawab sosial korporat (CSR) kelestarian menerusi bidang pendidikan apabila memilih Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) sebagai kampus rintis bagi pelaksanaan Kempen PAAB Lestari Edu-Sustainability.

Sasaran PAAB adalah untuk mendidik dan memberi kesedaran kepada pelajar-pelajar USM mengenai kepentingan menjimatkan air dan amalan-amalan lestari dalam memastikan mereka memahami serta mengambil tahu mengenai isu kelestarian alam sekitar.

Pelbagai inisiatif kelestarian bakal diterapkan dan dilaksanakan menerusi peruntukan berjumlah RM50,000 yang diumumkan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif PAAB, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar ketika berucap merasmikan Program CSR Lestari Edu-Sustainability di USM, Pulau Pinang.

Sebagai projek rintis kepada program CSR tersebut, PAAB komited untuk menaik taraf kemudahan bekalan air dan infrastruktur kampus di kolej kediaman Desa Siswa Indah Kembara L-12 yang dijangka siap dalam tempoh 3 bulan.

Ia termasuk penukaran pili air dan tangki tandas sedia ada di kolej kediaman itu kepada produk cekap air yang menghasilkan pengeluaran air lebih rendah dengan keupayaan menjimatkan 50 peratus daripada penggunaan bekalan air bersih ketika ini serta kemudahan infrastruktur asas lain.

Hadir sama pada majlis tersebut ialah Pengerusi PAAB, Dato' Seri Ir. Jaseni Maidinsa dan Timbalan Naib Canselor (Jaringan Industri Dan Masyarakat) USM Professor Dr. Azlan Amran, Presiden Water Watch Penang, Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Chan Ngai Weng, Ketua Pegawai Operasi PBAPP, Ir. Rosyidi Lat serta Ketua Pegawai Kewangan PAAB, Zaleha Abdul Hamid.

Friday, 6th of December 2024, Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB), led by Chief Operating Officer Ir. Abdul Samad Sulaiman, participated in a collaborative networking session with Ir. Shahirwan Aman Shah, the Acting Chief Operating Officer of Syarikat Air Melaka Bhd (SAMB), and their respective teams. The discussions focused on advancing water infrastructure development projects in Melaka, emphasizing a shared commitment to enhancing the state's water management capabilities.

Highlight of the day, a friendly football match was held between PAAB Allstar and SAMB FC at the renowned Hang Tuah Stadium in Melaka. The match demonstrated excellent sportsmanship among all players, strengthened relationships with key stakeholders, and fostered team camaraderie among PAAB’s members, reinforcing the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving common goals.

Sharing Session with Lembaga Air Perak (LAP) on Obligations of Parties to the Migration Agreement

Legal Department of PAAB collaborated with LAP’s Legal Department and successfully organized a knowledge sharing session on ‘The obligations of Parties to the Migration Agreement” on 4th December 2024 at Menara Air Perak.

This session was aimed to foster a deeper understanding of each party’s obligations as provided under the Master Agreement, Facility and Lease Agreement (Migration Agreement) which has been duly executed by the parties on 23 May 2012. The presentation focused on the roles and functions of PAAB under the water restructuring regime; among others, to take over the novated Federal Loan from State Government, to construct and refurbish new water assets and to lease the same to State Water Operators at a competitive rate and longer tenure as compared to private financial institutions. There were queries from the floor especially on the fund provided by PAAB for new water assets and the projects that may be carried out by PAAB.

This session marks an important step in promoting and opening more opportunities for PAAB to collaborate with LAP in developing their new water assets. Moving forward, Legal Department will conduct more series of engagement with our stakeholders.

PAAB’s Digitalization Initiatives Recognized at the Malaysia Digital Transformation Awards 2024

Our digital asset management system, Information-Water Asset (i-WA), received the Special Mention - Inter-Agency Award from Malaysia Digital Transformation (MDT). The award was presented by GovInsider on 20 November 2024 at Le Meridien Putrajaya.

The award was presented during the GovInsider Live Malaysia 2024 event, officiated by YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital. This award recognizes exemplary inter-agency initiatives that demonstrate a sustained and institutionalized approach to collaboration.

The award acknowledges PAAB’s efforts in developing its own in-house asset management system, created by the Asset Management Team in collaboration with the IT Team. This system functions to track and manage over 2,200 water assets and more than 35,000 km of pipelines nationwide.

GovInsider is an international platform dedicated to promoting public sector innovation and facilitating knowledge sharing among officials in the Asia-Pacific region. NETWORKING VISIT TO Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara

PAAB’s Risk Management Department visited SPAN's Integrity & Risk Management Division (BIPR) on 23 October 2024 at SPAN Headquarters, Cyberjaya for a sharing session related to risk management. The visit aimed to foster a deeper understanding of each party’s approach, performance, and the values embedded in their risk management activities. This collaboration was intended to strengthen efforts in improving risk management practices across the national water services industry.

The main objective of the session was to exchange insights on different approaches and best practices in risk management. Discussions focused on enhancing current risk management structures, promoting sustainable growth, and maintaining high industry standards.

Our Chairman, Dato’ Seri Ir. “PAAB telah menyertai program Peluncuran Pelan Hala Tuju Transformasi Air 2040 (AIR 2040), anjuran Kementerian Peralihan Tenaga dan Transformasi Air (PETRA) dengan Kerjasama Akademi Sains Malaysia (ASM). Program tersebut telah diadakan di Pusat Pameran dan Dagangan Antarabangsa Malaysia (MITEC) pada 29 Oktober 2024. Ianya telah dirasmikan oleh Timbalan Perdana Menteri merangkap Menteri PETRA, YAB Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

PAAB yang diwakili oleh pihak Pengurusan Tertinggi serta wakil daripada Lembaga Pengarah telah hadir untuk mendengar forum berkenaan transformasi air pada acara sebelah pagi sebelum menyaksikan majlis peluncuran AIR 2040 oleh YAB Timbalan Perdana Menteri pada sebelah petang. PAAB juga telah membuka reruai untuk para pengunjung di dewan pameran di mana Sistem Pengurusan Maklumat Air (i-WA) yang dipertontonkan telah mendapat perhatian daripada pengunjung pameran. Di samping itu, permainan atas talian “Kahoot” yang diadakan oleh PAAB telah mendapat sambutan yang begitu menggalakkan daripada pengunjung dengan pemberian hadiah – hadiah yang menarik kepada para pemenang. Soalan – soalan yang diajukan di dalam permainan tersebut adalah berkaitan dengan latar belakang PAAB, untuk membolehkan para peserta mengenali PAAB dengan lebih dekat lagi.

AIR 2040 adalah merupakan transformasi sektor air, selari dengan visi Malaysia MADANI yang menekankan aspek kemampanan, kesejahteraan dan keterjaminan. Pelan transformasi itu juga seiring dengan Matlamat Pembangunan Mampan (SDG) khususnya SDG 6 iaitu memastikan akses kepada air bersih dan sanitasi untuk semua. AIR 2040 juga bertujuan menjamin bekalan air berkualiti, mewujudkan peluang pekerjaan dan memajukan pembangunan Sains, Teknologi, Inovasi dan Ekonomi serta penyelidikan. Perubahan iklim serta tuntutan alam sekitar membawa kesan semakin ketara kepada sumber air negara di mana tindakan segera diperlukan untuk memastikan sumber air negara, bukan sahaja mencukupi tetapi juga terurus dengan Lestari.

Aligns with the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) guidelines, the Value Management (VM) Workshop was held from 15–17 October 2024 at Hotel Renai, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, that aims to optimize design, enhance quality, ensure cost-effectiveness, and address environmental impacts for project Cadangan Pembinaan Loji Rawatan Air Merbau Chondong Fasa 2, Machang, Kelantan.

The project involves construction of a new Water Treatment Plant (WTP) with 50MLD nominal capacity, raw water pipe installation, conventional water treatment systems, treated water pumps, and connection of treated water pipes to the existing balancing reservoir.

PAAB appreciates the presence of YB Tn. Hj. Saizol bin Ismail, Timbalan Exco Jawatankuasa Kerjaraya, Infrastruktur, Air dan Pembangunan Luar Bandar Kerajaan Kelantan, as well as representatives from SPAN, JSANK, AKSB, PTG, BKI, JKR, JPS, TNB, JAS, MDM, and subject matter experts from MWA, SADA, RSAJ, BWP, CH Konsult, PZK, and SSP, who had contributed towards achieving the “Value for Money” goals for the project’s benefit and success.

PAAB ENTERPRISE RISK MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP: A SUCCESS! 
 
We are thrilled to share that our company-wide 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐄𝐑𝐌) 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩, held recently was a resounding success! This comprehensive workshop organized by the Risk Management Department brought together the risk champions to enhance their understanding and implementation of risk management strategies across the organization. The in-depth session covered critical topics such as new insights and best practices for risk identification, risk assessment, mitigation strategies and monitoring. Another highlight was the interactive activities whereby participants engaged in hands on exercises and group discussions to apply their learnings.
 
But we didn’t stop there. Following this successful event, 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐄𝐑𝐌 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 was conducted. This review session was crucial for aligning our strategic objectives with the insights and recommendations gathered during the workshop. This enabled strategic alignment of integrating the potential threats into our ongoing projects and future plans. We also obtained valuable feedback and actionable steps to ensure continuous improvement in our risk management processes from them.
 
As we move into the next quarter, the Risk Management Department remains committed to actively engaging with our risk champions. We will be sharing updated and refreshed insights and capturing the 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐬 to ensure the company stays prepared and resilient. By anticipating potential threats and managing risks effectively, we aim to minimize impact and safeguard our operations in the long run

Walk the Talk - On 15th October 2024, the senior management of PAAB, led by our CEO Ir. Zulkiflee Omar, embarked on the 1st regional Management Walkabout to our Kelantan Regional Team. This initiative aimed to provide hands-on exposure to the management on key projects in Kelantan while fostering closer engagement with our regional staff.

The program kicked off with a visit to the Chicha Water Treatment Plant Phase 2 Project, where the team observed the tubewell construction for groundwater extraction and reviewed the overall progress of the construction.

The day continued with an engaging session between the Management of PAAB and the Kelantan Regional Team, emphasizing collaboration and open dialogue.

This walkabout demonstrates the management’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that both our projects and staff welfare remain our top priorities. Together, we continue to strive for excellence, growth, and unity within PAAB.

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the Microsoft Project Basic Training program, conducted as part of Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad’s (PAAB) ongoing Bumiputera Vendors Development Program. This initiative reflects our commitment to empower Bumiputera companies in project management, enhancing their capabilities to deliver high-quality projects within the industry.

Organized and facilitated by our Planning Department, the program consisted of four one-day training sessions held from April to October 2024. A total of 50 participants; 35 representatives from 31 Bumiputera contractors and consultants, 13 PAAB’s internal staff, and 2 participants from Syarikat Air Melaka Berhad (SAMB), took part in this enriching experience.

The sessions focused on providing hands-on training in Microsoft Project, with a customized approach to key project management techniques. Participants learned essential skills, such as cost loading to efficiently allocate budgeted costs, generating S-curves to track both financial and physical progress, and real-time schedule updates for accurate project monitoring. These techniques are instrumental in driving more efficient and precise project reporting and execution.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants for their active engagement and dedication. Your commitment to developing these critical skills will not only enhance project outcomes but also contribute to raising the overall standards within the industry. Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) successfully hosted the Building Information Modelling (BIM) Event Day for Water Industry Stakeholders on 26 September 2024, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with BIMAGE Consulting (M) Sdn Bhd. This landmark event brought together over 100 participants from various water industry stakeholders, including PETRA, SPAN, Water Operators, Professional Bodies, and Engineering Consultants.

The event commenced with an inspiring opening address by PAAB’s CEO, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar, setting the tone for the day's proceedings. It was then followed by insightful presentations from industry professionals among others:

PM TINJAU PROJEK LRA CHICHA FASA 2 DI KOTA BHARU

Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim meninjau Projek Pembinaan Loji Rawatan Air (LRA) Chicha fasa 2 di Pasir Hor, Kota Bharu, Kelantan berkapasiti 20 juta liter sehari (JLH) membabitkan kos bernilai RM54.9 juta yang dijadualkan siap pada Januari 2026.

Dalam sesi taklimat projek itu, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) Ir. Zulkiflee Omar berkata, 5 lagi projek bernilai lebih RM273 juta di bawah seliaan PAAB membabitkan pembinaan LRA Chicha, LRA Bukit Chupak (10 JLH), LRA Tanjung Mas (30 JLH), penggantian paip lama di sekitar Kota Bharu sepanjang 217 kilometer serta perancangan membina LRA Tok Bali, di Pasir Puteh berkapasiti 50 JLH.

Katanya, PAAB berjaya menyiapkan projek infrastruktur air di Kelantan bernilai lebih RM80 juta termasuk kerja-kerja pemulihan dan penggantian paip lama sepanjang kira-kira 140 kilometer.

Turut hadir, isteri Perdana Menteri, Datin Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Menteri Sumber Asli dan Kelestarian Alam, YB. Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad dan Exco Kelantan, Datuk Dr. Izani Husin.

PAAB komited untuk meningkatkan rizab air terawat bagi mengatasi masalah gangguan bekalan air yang sering dihadapi oleh rakyat Kelantan serta membantu Air Kelantan Sdn. Bhd. (AKSB) mengurangkan kadar air tidak terhasil (NRW).

Semoga komitmen PAAB dan kerjasama daripada semua pihak akan membuka jalan untuk lebih banyak lagi projek-projek aset air yang bermanfaat untuk Negeri Kelantan.

5th September 2024 is a definitely a date to remember as Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) successfully hosted our inaugural Investors Briefing event, welcoming close to 50 distinguished representatives from a diverse range of investors.

The highlight of the briefing was an insightful presentation by Puan Zaleha Abdul Hamid, our Chief Financial Officer. Puan Zaleha provided an overview of the PAAB’s FY2023 financial performance, ongoing and upcoming projects, strategic initiatives, ESG roadmap, future plan and outlook.

The event also included a site visit to Water Treatment Plant Langat 2 Phase 1. This tour provided attendees with a tangible understanding of our operational capabilities and innovations. Key highlights of the site visit included a guided tour of the plant’s facilities, showcasing the advanced technology and processes employed in water treatment.

This workshop had successfully given full and complete exposure and understanding on KPI standards for Water Operators, as a service licensee under the Water Services Industry Act (WSIA). PAAB delivered a comprehensive overview of the asset lifecycle, highlighting key areas such as maintenance monitoring, verification processes, reporting and forward-looking strategies of asset management advancement.

The session not only achieved remarkable outcomes but also received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both SPAN and Water Operators. PAAB extends its deep appreciation to SPAN for providing us with the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the industry, particularly on asset management.

We recently had the honour to participate in an IFMC-MLC Roundtable on Advancing Green Sukuk, a roundtable session organised by the Malaysia’s Islamic Financial Market Committee (IFMC) and the Malaysia International Islamic Financial Centre, Leadership Council (MLC). Held at Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia, this event provided a valuable platform for in-depth discussions on advancing green/social/sustainability sukuk market with industry players representatives including bankers, regulators (eg: Securities Commission, Bursa Malaysia, Bank Negara), cornerstone investors, and intermediaries.

Our Chief Financial Officer, Puan Zaleha Abdul Hamid, tackled Session 2, on “Upscaling and Expanding Green/Social/Sustainability Sukuk: Prospects and Challenges” together with other distinguished panelist. She shared our company's journey in fundraising via sukuk under social and sustainability agenda, key challenges, issues and future outlook including potential new ESG/SDG sukuk programme.

The roundtable session played a crucial role in exploring solutions to scale and expand the green/social/sustainability sukuk market. Key discussions also included the challenges and opportunities in advancing Malaysia’s Shariah-compliant fundraising and investment landscape as well as addressing what is needed to foster a vibrant green/social/sustainability sukuk market from the perspectives of industry players.

Quality is everyone's responsibility.

On that note, PAAB's Quality Assurance & Document Management (QADM) Department had successfully conducted the Quality Management System (QMS) Document Creation/Revision Writing Awareness Training Session. Participants were representatives from departments/divisions, who are also the persons in charge of QMS documents.

The objective of this awareness session is to promote better understanding of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Standards, emphasizing on PAAB's document hierarchy, highlight the importance of document creation and revision, establishing a clear strategy for writing QMS documents, and most importantly, to ensure the highest standards in PAAB operations.

The training was conducted and presented by Puan Syazwani Hj. Shukor, led by Puan Harvinderjit Kaur Sandhu from QADM, Corporate Services Division.

A big thank you to ROZAIFEE ABU ZAHARIM, Head of Corporate Services Division for support and guidance and congratulations to all participants. You are a step higher in maintaining the quality in PAAB. Hopefully the knowledge gained from this training will be passed on to fellow colleagues and be practiced in day-to-day tasks. Because quality is not an act. It is a habit.

Exciting insights shared at the "Half Day Seminar on Langat 2: What Have We Learnt?" organized by The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) on the 3rd of September 2024.

Held at the Malakoff Auditorium Wisma IEM, Petaling Jaya, the event featured a comprehensive overview of the Langat 2 Project presented by Mr. Johari Sinal @ Zainal, Head of the Special Project Division at Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad. Attendees gained valuable knowledge about the intricacies of the project, particularly the design and construction of the Hulu Langat-Ampang dual tunnel conveyance and water storage, as shared by other esteemed speakers from the SMHB Sdn. Bhd. consultant and Protext Construction (M) Sdn. Bhd. contractor teams involved.

With over 60 participants joining both physically and virtually, the seminar was a success, fostering a deeper understanding of one of Malaysia's critical water infrastructure projects which has garnered the recognition of The Malaysian Book of Records!

PAAB has gone international!

Our Chairman, Dato’ Seri Ir. Jaseni Maidinsa was invited to become a speaker at Indonesia Water Forum 2024 (IWF 2024), a biennial event organised by Persatuan Perusahaan Air Minum Seluruh Indonesia (PERPAMSI). The Forum was held at Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran from 28 – 30 August 2024 with the theme “Transformasi Air Minum Menuju Indonesia Emas Tahun 2024”. IWF 2024 was officiated by Brigadier General Heri Pribadi, Secretary of the Directorate General of Defence, Ministry of Defence and Mr. Moga Simatumpang, Director General of Domestic Trade, Ministry of Trade for the Republic of Indonesia.
 
IWF 2024 was attended by water players from Indonesia as well as members from Southeast Asia Water Utilities Network (SEAWUN). Our Chairman was accompanied by our Chief Executive Officer, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar and Head of Corporate Services, Rozaifee Abu Zaharim. Also part of the Malaysian delegates were representatives from Malaysia Water Association (MWA) and Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN).

As Indonesia is in the pipeline of transforming and restructuring its treated water and sewerage industry, Dato' Seri Jaseni was invited to share PAAB's experience in financing transformation scheme of water supply in Malaysia. This includes presenting the history and our role in the Malaysia Water Industry restructuring, as well as the migration journey. SPAN and Aguas De Portugal (water operator company in Portugal) also presented their experience in water industry restructuring both in Malaysia and Portugal. Alternative financing for Indonesia water industry was also discussed and presented in IWF 2024.
 
PERPAMSI has showed their interest to emulate the restructuring model of PAAB and has expressed their willingness to visit PAAB's office in Kuala Lumpur to learn more about PAAB’s operation. May this event become a stepping stone in fostering good relationship between PAAB and PERPAMSI and other water players within the region.

Branding is a must because you are not alone in this world. And the world is competitive. You don’t want to be forgotten hence, your brand must be strong and be able to withstand the test of time. Since PAAB’s establishment in 2006, one of our objectives has always been to put PAAB in the water industry map as an efficient, reliable and advanced organization. We want people to know what we do, how we do it and how we overcome obstacles. This award will definitely launch us to be more aggressive in reaching that objective.

Asset Management & Digital Transformation Engagement with Water Operators continued with Pengurusan Air Pahang (PAIP)
 
On August 8, 2024, we had the pleasure of engaging with Pengurusan Air Pahang (PAIP) to further set the alignment and exploring strategic prospects in asset management and digitalization, particularly in data integration of both parties. Our delegation, led by Ir. Zainal Nagin, Head of the Asset and Land Management Division, was warmly received by PAIP’s Chief Finance Officer, Puan Norbaida Abu Bakar.
 
PAIP has already taken proactive measures by establishing a digital transformation roadmap, with strategic initiatives currently in progress which aligned with the Water Sector Transformation (WST2040) and the principles of Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0).
 
We also visited the PAIP Command Centre, a centralized facility used to monitor, control, and manage the water supply network in the State of Pahang.
 
PAIP’s exploration into Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance the efficiency of deliverables, demonstrates their commitment to innovation and excellence. These transformative initiatives are propelling PAIP towards realizing their vision: “To become a world-class water services provider”.

Collaboration between Industry and Academia: Ensuring Continuity and Progress

PAAB views the development of new talent as crucial, with focus on equipping the next generation with awareness and early insights into industry’s best practices. Students and lecturers alike acknowledged that projects, assets and land management are fascinating topics within the realm of water management. 
 
We explored critical issues like sustainability, climate change and resource preservation, emphasizing the role of the younger generation in driving innovation and resilience to address these global challenges.

PAAB’s IT and Finance team were given the opportunity to attend the SAP NOW Southeast Asia (SEA) conference and exhibition in Singapore from 24-25 July 2024. The event came at the right time as PAAB is transitioning to the latest SAP S/4HANA system. This is vital as we accelerate innovation in this new era of artificial intelligence built for business (Business AI).

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif PAAB, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar telah turun padang pada 25 Julai untuk meninjau sendiri secara dekat, perkembangan projek pembinaan Loji Rawatan Air (LRA) Ngoi-Ngoi Fasa 2, Seremban. Lawatan ini turut disertai oleh Ketua Jabatan Pelaksanaan Projek, Ir. Shamsunazaruddin Shah Mohd Salleh serta kakitangan Pejabat PAAB Negeri Sembilan.

Keseluruhan kemajuan pembangunan projek ini telah 74% siap dan dijangka akan siap sepenuhnya pada Mac 2025. LRA Ngoi-Ngoi Fasa 2 ini akan menghasilkan 150 juta liter sehari (JLH) air terawat yang akan disalurkan ke kawasan Seremban dan Nilai. Selain itu, loji ini juga dapat membantu menstabilkan permintaan bekalan air di kawasan-kawasan sekitar Seremban dan Nilai seperti Mantin dan Lenggeng.

CSR - KEMPEN MASJID HIJAU PAAB 2024

Selepas Melaka pada tahun 2022 dan Kelantan pada tahun lalu, kini Negeri Sembilan pula terpilih sebagai lokasi  CSR Kempen Masjid Hijau PAAB 2024.

Pada Khamis 25 Julai, kira-kira 100 tetamu termasuk 40 sukarelawan dari PAAB dan Politeknik Port Dickson bersama-sama menjayakan program CSR ini yang berlangsung di Masjid Kariah Kampung Jimah Lama, Port Dickson.

Seawal jam 7.00 pagi lagi, para sukarelawan berganding bahu untuk persiapan majlis dan membersihkan kawasan masjid.

Antara acara utama program CSR Masjid Hijau tahun ini ialah ceramah kerohanian bertajuk “Kelestarian Air dalam Beribadah” oleh Ustaz Syed Abdul Kader Aljoofre, penyerahan 𝘮𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦 berjumlah RM17,500.00 daripada PAAB oleh Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar kepada Pengerusi Masjid Kariah Kampung Jimah Lama, Tuan Haji Mohamad Abdul Latif, dan demonstrasi pili cekap air serta Sistem Pengumpulan Air Hujan (SPAH) oleh Malaysia Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC).

Sekalung penghargaan diucapkan kepada semua pihak yang menjayakan program ini terutama kepada pihak Masjid Kariah Kampung Jimah lama dan MGTC selaku rakan strategik dalam CSR Kempen Masjid Hijau PAAB.

Alhamdulillah, semalam lawatan kerja oleh Kementerian Peralihan Tenaga dan Transformasi Air (PETRA) ke Loji Rawatan Air Langat 2 Fasa 1(LRAL2F1) telah diadakan dengan jayanya.

Lawatan ini yang diketuai oleh Ketua Setiausaha PETRA, Dato’ Haji Mad Zaidi Mohd Karli, turut disertai oleh Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB), Ir. Zulkiflee Omar, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (AiS) En Adam Saffian Ghazali, serta wakil-wakil daripada Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) dan Bahagian Bekalan Air (BBA).

Delegasi PETRA diberikan taklimat berkenaan pembinaan LRAL2F1 oleh Pengarah Projek, En. Johari Sinal @ Zainal yang meliputi tiga (3) komponen:
1. Projek Penyaluran Air Mentah dari Pahang ke Selangor
2. Pemindahan 500 juta liter sehari (JLH) air mentah dari Sg. Semantan, Pahang ke Sg. Langat
3. Skim LRAL2 yang dilaksanakan oleh PAAB

Ini diikuti pula oleh pembentangan berkenaan pengoperasian LRAL2F1 oleh Ketua Pengeluaran AiS, Ir. Azlan Abdullah serta lawatan ke bangunan pemprosesan air di LRAL2F1 bagi mendapatkan pendedahan berkenaan proses rawatan air serta sistem yang berkaitan.

Jumlah pembiayaan skim LRAL2F1 ini bernilai RM4.4 bilion dan telah mula beroperasi sejak 22 Disember 2019. Loji yang terbesar di Asia Tenggara ini berkapasiti 1,130JLH dan merangkumi satu (1) loji rawatan air, dua (2) kolam imbangan, lima (5) kolam servis serta 92km jajaran paip yang berupaya membekalkan air kepada lebih daripada 520,000 akaun pengguna di sekitar Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Sungai Besi, Kinrara dan Puchong.

From July 16th to 17th, water industry professionals converged at the Wyndham Grand Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur for the esteemed Water Malaysia Specialised Conference and Exhibition 2024 organized by the Malaysian Water Association (MWA).

For two days, experts gathered to exchange knowledge, share insights, and develop innovative strategies for the future of our nation’s water sustainability.

All fired up to save the beach and the sea!

12 PAABians were among 149 volunteers who joined hands in the Phase 2: International Volunteer Project, Dive Against Debris (DAD), Beach Cleanup and Environment Education held from 21-23 June 2024 in Perhentian Island.

Our volunteers combed the iconic Long Beach, collecting primarily plastic bottles, cans, and cigarette butts. Every piece of trash and debris was carefully weighed, sorted, recorded, and disposed of responsibly. A total of 215.85 kilograms of trash and marine debris were collected throughout the event. What a team effort!

In addition to the beach cleanup, our volunteers engaged in a meaningful awareness session with students at SK Pulau Perhentian, Kg. Nelayan.

Special thanks to Black Eye Scuba Team & Yayasan Salam for organising such a fantastic event!

It was an unforgettable weekend on Perhentian Island.

Skudai, Johor, June 10, 2024 – Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) was invited to be one of the speaker in the Industry-Community Engagement (ICE) Day 2024, hosted by the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). This annual event fosters collaboration between academia and industry, facilitating the exchange of cutting-edge advancements in civil engineering.

Over 80 brilliant final-year students from UTM's Faculty of Civil Engineering attended, with PAAB seizing the opportunity to provide an insight the complexities of Geotechnical aspects in Water Asset Protection, presented by our own Geotechnical Engineer, Ir. Mohd Saufi Mohd Redzuan.

The event also featured prominent local and international companies, including China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), TenCate Geosynthetics Asia, Industrial Concrete Products (ICP), and Aurum Precast.

At PAAB, we believe in the power of strong industry-academia partnerships as a cornerstone for societal advancement. Lawatan ke Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM), Kuala Lumpur.

Seramai 35 warga kerja Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) telah berpeluang mengikuti lawatan ke Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) cawangan Kuala Lumpur di bawah anjuran Jabatan Integriti & Governans. Lawatan ini merupakan salah satu usaha pemantapan integriti bagi memupuk kesedaran berkaitan anti-rasuah dan menggalakkan tadbir urus yang baik.

Pegawai SPRM telah memberi penerangan serta berkongsi pengalaman sepanjang lawatan dibuat di Bilik Rakaman Pernyataan Saksi, Bilik Kawad Cam, Bilik Rakaman Percakapan Bervideo dan juga lokap. Lawatan diakhiri dengan ceramah dan sesi dialog yang telah disampaikan oleh Ketua Pendidikan Masyarakat SPRM KL, Ps (Penguasa) Zairinhani Zulkifly. Beliau juga telah berkongsi maklumat mengenai bidang kerja yang berisiko tinggi dan beberapa kajian kes rasuah yang boleh dijadikan iktibar.

Program sebegini sememangnya memberi impak yang tinggi kepada warga kerja PAAB dalam usaha memupuk budaya tolak rasuah.

PAAB DID IT AGAIN!

Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) has bagged the prestigious “IEM Award for Contribution to Engineering Industry in Malaysia 2024” by the Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Council in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the water industry.
 
The conferment of the award was unanimously approved by the IEM Council, which conducted stringent ratings and judging based on PAAB’s capabilities and significant contributions to nation-building and engineering progress. The award was accepted by PAAB’s Chief Executive Officer, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar during IEM’s 65th Annual Dinner & Awards Night on 1st June 2024 at One World Hotel. 
 
A heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all PAAB’s staff, and various authorities including Minister of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc.), the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), and the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) for being part of PAAB’s journey.

The illustrious 10th World Water Forum convened last week from the 18th to the 25th of May 2024, with Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) and members of its Board of Directors participating and contributing significantly to the esteemed assembly.

The Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister, YAB Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah Bin Haji Yusof, graced the forum with his presence, alongside representatives from PETRA and SPAN, among other distinguished attendees.

The Information of Water Asset (i-WA) emerges as a pivotal tool, providing a comprehensive solution for the efficient management of water assets. Developed internally from scratch by Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB), this system empowers users to register, track, and report on water assets, while also facilitating analysis, optimization, risk management, and decision-making processes.

Thousands of water assets, including intakes, water treatment plants, reservoirs, and pipelines, are meticulously recorded within i-WA's database, which is accessible to unlimited users through free licenses. Managing assets valued at over RM26 billion (USD5.44 billion) across multiple states necessitates the adoption of an accurate and efficient Asset Management (AM) tools, prioritizing the safeguarding of company assets with high-integrity data.

The integration of GIS into i-WA further enhances its functionality, allowing users to visualize asset locations and other spatial information within the same platform. PAAB, as a government agency with a vision for water industry reform, plays a pivotal role in promoting the adoption of advanced AM practices among water operators to drive sustainability. Furthermore, i-WA, is a registered system under copyright by Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO), represents a cost-effective technological advancement, leveraging open-source solutions with zero-cost development, free maintenance, license-free application, and zero-cost system updates. This eco-friendly approach aligns with green initiatives such as the 3R's (reduce-reuse-recycle) concepts, paperless processes, and carbon-copy implementations, minimizing environmental impact.

We take every opportunity to share our approach, platform system, technology and our experience on how we manage and monitor PAAB’s water assets with various stakeholders, especially to water services commissioner, Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN), water operators, agencies and etc. i-WA also been presented during series of exhibitions such as MWA Water Malaysia 2023 (14 June 2023), Awareness of ISO 55001 AM System to State Water Operators (26 July 2023), International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (4 October 2023), Malaysia International Water Convention 2023 (4 December 2023), AsiaWater 2024 (23 April 2024) and World Water Day 2024, Sarawak (26 April 2024).

PAAB do believe that i-WA capable to presenting myriad opportunities for digitalization in the Malaysian water industry, promising enhanced effectiveness in AM based on the aforementioned premises.
