Zakiah Jaafar was appointed as Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad’s Board Member on 16 January 2020. She graduated from University of Warwick, United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Economics in 1990 and obtained her Master of Social Sciences in Economics in 1991 from University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Zakiah is presently the Deputy Secretary General (Investment) of the Ministry of Finance (MOF). A technocrat with 28 years of experience in the civil service, her current position mainly entails overseeing policies and monitoring the performance of Government-owned companies and statutory bodies as well as managing government loans and funding. Prior to her posting to MOF, she was the Deputy Secretary General (Macro) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MEA). At MEA, her primary function was the preparation of medium- and long-term macroeconomic targets for the economy as well as overseeing the policy directions for the manufacturing and services sectors, science & technology and innovation, environment economics and knowledge-based economy. In addition, as MEA is the focal point of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) initiatives for Malaysia, she headed the secretariat to monitor the progress of all the SDGs.
Zakiah also sits on the Board of few companies, including Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia.
