Dato’ Ir. Nor Hisham was appointed as Board Member on 31 October 2022.

He was a former Director-General of the National Institute of Water Research Malaysia (NAHRIM), and prior to that, he was the Director General of Department of Irrigation & Drainage Malaysia (DID). In 2021, he was elected as Vice-President of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID).

In his 35 years of government service, he has accumulated wide experience in operational, technical, research, management and policy roles including as Director of Operations – KL SMART Tunnel, DID Chief Information Officer, and as the Director for Water Resources Management and Hydrology.  Whilst acknowledged as a departmental expert in coastal engineering and Shoreline Management earlier in his career, he has in recent years focussed on activities related to integrated water resources management, disaster risk reduction and the assessment and reporting of national progress towards Sustainable Development Goals 6 (water and sanitation).

Dato’ Ir. Nor Hisham holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from California State University and a Masters’ Degree in Coastal and Maritime Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He is currently Chair of the Malaysian Water Partnership and also serves as a Member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia and a Council Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia.
